Buzztracker VST adapter versions

Being a potential source for crashing Buzz, and rendering old projects inaccessible, this resource hopefully helps you reconstruct things. This file documents information to identify machine versions and other features.

Nomenclature for the scope of this document

To prevent misunderstandings between loader and plugin:

  • Loader = Buzz machine
  • Plugin = VST plugin

General setup strategies

To maximize compatibility and minimize crashes, I suggest to:

  • Keep the amount of VSTs per loader to a bare minimum
  • Separate VST plugins into individual folders for each loader
  • Check, that the plugin version you installed is compatible with the one you used in your project:
  • Renaming parameters broke compatibility
  • Changing the number of parameters broke compatibility

"I don't have an elephants' brain/got ADHD/drugs made my memory fuzzy...–How do I know which plugin version I used?"

  1. Check the date of your .bmx
  2. Pray that the plugin dev maintained a scrapable website and that
  3. https://web.archive.org did a good job of preserving it
