DDU: Display Driver Uninstaller¶
DDU let’s me completely remove old AMD and NVidia driver software, as well as prevent Windows from interfering by installing versions MS sees fit. Thereby ensuring that I’m installing and using the driver version I want to use (which can be important for DAWs). And prevent potential version conflicts behind the curtain to interfere with my systems’ performance.
NVCleanstall¶
As occasionally gaming musician, I don’t want NVidia’s overhead of telemetry, Physx, HD Audio drivers, or ad-space called “NVidia app”, and all the background services shipping with them to clog down my system. NVCleanstall allows for installing only the driver, and nothing else.
NVidia Game-ready or Studio drivers?¶
The goal of the Game-ready drivers is maximizing game performance and compatibility. They’re being frequently updated. More than often, including bugs or cause issues interfering with DAW latency and performance.
The Studio drivers see less frequent updates, and more thoroughly tested for creative purposes. I’m preferring this driver branch.
